Common Buzzard - Buteo buteo

Buzzard numbers are on the increase after a period when extinction was a real concern. Most often seen in hilly areas, they can now be found comparatively frequently in Northumberland. Buzzards use their large wide wings to soar spectacularly and give a very distinctive mewing cry.
