Our latest two rescue birds are doing well but, unfortunately, are unlikely to be fit enough for release.
A wild Common Buzzard was rescued suffering from a badly broken wing. After 9 weeks in close confinement to allow the injury to heal, he was brought to the Trust where he is now in a large purpose built aviary.
His wing muscles are strengthening but his left wing is still badly dropped which hampers his flight. We shall keep hoping that with time he will be fit enough to release.
A male Barn Owl was brought to us in February in a poor condition. Although he has no identifying rings, his behaviour suggests that he was at one time a captive bird. By the state of his feathers we suspect that he was kept in very confined conditions, possibly for breeding purposes. Previous treatment has made him fairly aggressive, especially with other birds. However, he is now starting to moult and is definitely screeching less which is a major plus for us all.
