There have been three new arrivals this month so far
Red Tail Hawks; We have added a pair of adult red tail hawks to our breeding programme. They are settling well into their new purpose built aviary and we are hopeful that they will breed successfully this year.
Tawny Owl; We have received another wild Tawny Owl injured by a car. The bird has received considerable veterinary care, but still has a weak wing which makes prolonged flight impossible. We have put him into the outdoor aviary with the other wild Tawny Owls (and one confused Barn Owl) where he is coping well. If his wing muscles strengthen properly and he eventually shows no residual sign of injury, he will be released, otherwise he will remain with the others.
New Section; You will see that we have added a new section to the Schools site. Called ‘Work Wall’ this is to show some of the amazing art work and poetry schools have sent to us describing some of the birds that we have shown them. The first exhibits are from Byker Primary School where we enjoyed a very happy visit in January.
